Pupil Premium is a government initiative designed to address educational inequalities by providing additional funding to schools for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The goal is to ensure that every child, regardless of their socio-economic circumstances, has the opportunity to reach their full academic potential.
The funding is allocated based on the number of eligible pupils within a school. The main criteria for eligibility are students who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years, children who are looked after by the local authority and those who have left care through adoption, a special guardianship order, or a child arrangements order.
